Pilates Program:
February 2008 - Attending my first Pilates class I wasn't sure what to expect. I hear every day about new ways to exercising. It seems like every ambitious trainer has a workout DVD now... :-)
Since Pilates has been around for decades, now I know it is definitely not a "Just another trendy way to workout".
The exercises were deceptively hard. After 10 minutes I started to sweat fairly good and felt many different muscle groups encaging, while using full range of motion, I knew I was getting a great benefit of neuromuscular training during the balancing poses.
Being used to doing vigorous cardio and power training during my professional hockey career, I see the advantages of strengthening of small muscles. These are vital to keep a naturally healthy posture and the prevention of injuries. This is vital for a successful career....and most important a Healthy Life!
This was a great experience.

January 2008 - Just a little note to you about Pilates.
I have been taking Pilates at White Oaks for a year now. I took a few sessions with Wendy Bond and the remainder with you. I can't tell you the difference I feel especially with my back.
I am over 50, and have had issues with my back for more than 18years.
My Chiropractor had been suggesting yoga and Pilates to me for years. I have been doing yoga for 9 years now and love it, but it hasn't addressed my back the way Pilates has. I have not seen my Chiropractor for my back since I started Pilates. I have frozen shoulders as well, and I feel that they are slowly starting to open up.
I enjoy starting me week off with you - you have such a calm, patient, joyous presence in class - thank you

Janice Czop, A few years ago, I signed up for a Pilates ( not Stott, just a private instructor) workshop through my job with some other girls. I really enjoyed it and then I realized that my gym (The CLUB at White Oaks) offered Stott Pilates Mat classes so I enrolled in an 8 week class. It was a perfect class for me because I didn't want anything too difficult or strenuous, but boy, was I mistaken! I soon figured out that this class was a challenge. The class was difficult and strenuous, but in a good way!! It took a while to learn the principles and the moves, but after the 8 weeks I signed up for another session and then another. That was in the fall of 2003, and I continue to do Mat classes twice a week now, as well as work with a trainer once a week on the Reformer and the other equipment.

I have pretty good defintion in my abs, and people have commented that I look like l am in pretty good shape. About ten years ago, I began to experience lower back pain which I attributed to standing on the job all day ( I am a teacher). I have no lower back pain whatsoever today, and I am postive it was the Pilates which helped me. I know I have a strong core and my balance has improved.

One thing that I keep on saying to my instuctors is that I have been doing the same exercises (half-roll back, side leg series, etc) for all these years, and they never get any easier. The instructors reply that this means I am doing them correctly and I am experiencing the benefits. The day after some classes my abs just burn and I love that feeling because I know I am doing good things for my body. Doing Pilates has helped make me more aware of my body and how it works. I am also lucky to have awesome instructors at The Club.
Thank you Stott Pilates!
