Physiotherapy is a professional health care discipline directed primarily towards the prevention or alleviation of movement dysfunctions. The human body is made up of hundreds of bones and joints, in combination with muscles and ligaments, all working in balance. A disruption in this balance, resulting from an accident or injury, inactivity, under-use or overuse, or even the aging process, can result in a movement dysfunction. Such dysfunctions have a negative impact on the effectiveness and efficiency of body performance.
Physiotherapy involves manual techniques (using hands), modalities (ice, heat, ultrasound, interferential current, acupuncture), and active progressive therapy programs (exercise prescription) with the ultimate goal to restore the body’s maximum functional performance. Our physiotherapy services are rendered by Registered Physiotherapists who are licensed with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
